James-Olivia Chu-Hillman: Supporting A Scared Parent Around A Child’s “Dangerous” Behavior
My guest is James-Olivia Chu Hillman, one of my mentors and someone who has taught me SO MUCH about relating!
//
In this episode, I bare my heart to James-Olivia and they share their skills around holding non-judgmental space.
//
TW: We discuss an incident at my son's school where he threatened to bring a 6un to school and how well (sarcasm) that went over with the school authorities.
//
I struggle with knowing what type of accountability is "fair" and "right" to hold a young, neurodivergent child to, without "pissing off" everyone for letting something so serious "slide."
//
I share this conversation in the hopes that it resonates with other parents who have had similar struggles, of themselves or their child getting vilified by the over-culture, and of struggles around how to do compassionate and appropriate accountability in an over-culture that over-couples accountability with punishment.
