I came to coaching in the middle of a crisis.
I had just moved to an unknown city. I was a first time mom with an infant. I was pregnant. I was getting a divorce. My business was suffering.
My coach held the space for my agitation better than any professional I’d worked with previously.
My coach offered me more self-awareness and access to my authenticity than anyone I’d previously hired.
I was smitten by coaching.
Coaching is unregulated and a lot of what I see in the coaching industry I do not like and I do not practice that way. And yet, my most powerful transformations have been facilitated by coaches.
I call my style of coaching “depth-oriented transformational” or “coherence coaching.” Here are my coaching principles:
Your humanity, principles, values, experiences, emotions, contradictions, and difficulties are all valid and will be witnessed with unconditional positive regard and safety, by someone who affirms and validates the depths and paradoxes of the human condition.
It takes as long as it takes. We do not rush for the sake of superficial results. We move at the speed of trust. Your trust in me, your trust in the change, and the trust your nervous system demonstrates.
I use a variety of modalities to meet you exactly where you are at and give you what is most helpful in that moment. Sometimes it makes sense to go deeper into story and chase the “why.” Sometimes it makes sense to release a story and accept there is no satisfactory why. Sometimes we orient to the past, sometimes to the future, sometimes to the present. All are valid.
I do not need you to be any one thing, or any one way. I welcome all of your contradictions, inconsistencies, and paradoxes. There is nothing wrong with you. Paradox is normal.
I know you’re not perfect and sometimes you’re so not perfect that you scare yourself. When you’re ready, you are welcome to tell me the ways in which you frighten yourself, so we can unshame them. I will not judge you.
