Mars retrograde in gemini in 2022

I‘m intrigued by John Townley’s perspective on retrograde planets:

“The most important illusion to disperse is that a retrograde planet is somehow lost and distant from us. Quite the opposite is true….if anything, it’s a period of more active engagement, gravitationally and by sheer proximity. A retrograde planet is literally in our face, as much as it can get, with all that implies. It demands our attention, and it only becomes a problem if we ignore it or avoid it.”
