Experiential Inner Child

Make powerful progress on inner child work through a unique & dynamic group format.

The creative and experiential modalities of group psychodrama and sociometrics add embodiment and relationality to this work, increasing the probability that deep shifts will occur.

What are Psychodrama and Sociometrics?

Psychodrama is an embodied, experiential therapeutic approach where you are no longer passively talking ABOUT what happened - you are SHOWING it.

You might inhabit and speak as different parts of yourself, past versions of yourself. Current You speaks directly to your mother, your nemesis, or 7 year old you - or even other things, abstractions like god or money or fame.

Other people in the group play supporting roles or speak your inner thoughts and feelings for you. Roles are frequently reversed.

Sociometrics is a modality that helps create group trust and co-regulation. It is a way of accessing shared experience and normalizing experiences that felt shameful or alienating.

In sociometrics, participants gather around commonalities and share a little around why they self-selected into the preference or category that they did.

Through sociometrics, we are powerfully co-regulated and our lexicon around individual experience expands and enriches. When other people share, we are free to take parts of their experience that feel resonant and add it to our own meaning making.

What is the point of inner child work?

It’s where our biggest blocks originate.

It’s where our biggest shifts can be made.

It has a massive impact on all our most important relationships.

For parents, it illuminates why we parent a certain way and why certain things our children do trigger us. And it can help liberate us from generational cycles, and parent-child patterns we pass down unconsciously.

As a parent myself, inner child wondering has had a massive impact on my ability as a parent and my work as a parent coach. It’s not super comfortable for me, but accessing it through psychodrama methods has made it not only bearable, but fun!

For people in romantic relationships, it helps to unpack unconscious patterns of relating and projecting onto our partner. It helps us show up in relationships as our present adult selves, and we can delight in how that changes the dynamic and dissolves habituated conflict.

For individuals generally, we are invited into liberation and possibility when we become consciously aware of how much our unconscious, automatic reactions, beliefs, and feelings that all originated in childhood, are impacting our current way of moving through the world.

Breakthroughs await.
