the two sets of eyes of love
The two sets of eyes of love. The set that is infatuated, romanced, prismatic with projection. Enchanted.
//
The other set. The one we need to cultivate. The one that shouldn't tear down the pleasure of falling in love. But the one that looks around the edges, through the cracks, seeking to know the Other as they are, not as we hope them to be.
//
The one that always keeps one eye on who WE are, and the life we have, so we don't slip completely into the magnetic waters of the Other, leaving our own shore.
//
Insect eyes and owl eyes.
//
I wrote about love this way a few days ago, and I kind of love this idea of love giving us insect vision, compound vision, tons of facets refracting. And also, multiple sets of eyes:
//
Love makes us like spiders. Eyes of the body, eyes of the heart, eyes of the mind, eyes of the soul. 4 sets of eyes. All refracting projections, yearning, wounding, meaning.
//
Love lets us see so differently, if we realize that we are no longer seeing as ourselves, but seeing through the compound eyes of love.
//
A critical part of loving must be realizing we are in Love Brain and how that changes our perception.
