REACTS: Effectively Examining + Deactivating Triggers
REACTS I is a streamlined, acronym-based, prompt/ journaling framework to help process a trigger or activating circumstance.
Once you’ve identified and processed the activating event and your reaction, REACTS II is for ideating interventions and soothing strategies around the trigger or activating circumstance.
REACTS I and REACTS II are best used in tandem and in reflection (eg, not in the heat of the moment, but later when you are calm + able to be curious and reflective).
REACTS I is adapted from Lisa Ferentz & Dr. Tracy Alderman’s work. REACTS II is Celestyna Brozek’s addition.
GOALS OF REACTS I + II:
Identify the trigger
Process the trigger + reaction
Access + accept unconscious beliefs
Make meaning/make sense of the trigger
Create strategies to respond to the trigger
Increase safety and feeling of safeness around the trigger
Decrease activation around the trigger
Increase understanding + response-ability around the trigger
