Making money, wealth, and the birth chart in astrology

SECOND HOUSE

2H: experiences and areas of life that deal with themes around Earth resources: material resource, security, worth, beauty/attractiveness, adequate food, housing, adequate ability to demand or attract love based on your physicality (usually AFAB if we’re being honest about the influence of gender binary thinking) or the attractiveness of your resources (usually AMAB). A sense of sufficiency and security around material resources.

PLANETS IN THE 2H

Tenanted 2H: there are planets in the 2H

These planets are trying to achieve their natural goal state and go after their inherent motives. That doesn’t change. But they’re doing it through 2H experiences and areas in life. Or they’re trying to achieve their goal state using 2H means (aka money or beauty).

This might look like Pluto trying to feel safe (a goal state for Pluto) through accumulating money. This could explain why a fair amount of billionaires have Pluto in the 2H - it’s hard to feel sufficient with Pluto in the 2H unless you do deep work around your fear brain. Or - you just stockpile endlessly and STILL never feel safe. Hello, billionaires.

eating disorders in the birth chart

eating disorders in the birth chart

Today I wanted to talk about how eating disorders might manifest in the natal chart.

I don't know that there is a particular signature that we can be sure indicates the native will experience disordered eating or body dysmorphia or anything else related. If someone is experiencing an eating disorder, however, it is helpful to retro-actively look at the chart and see where in the chart that might be indicated.

Caveat: I would always use the natal chart as confirmation of an eating disorder. I would never use it as indication of an eating disorder. I would be very cautious to form a hypothesis that implied an eating disorder. So my strong recommendation is to use the chart retro-actively - not pro-actively - when bringing astrology in.

Pluto transits

Pluto transits

Chances are if you're in your mid thirties to early forties, you're in the vicinity of a Pluto transit.

Pluto transits usually/sometimes/often involve loss.

It's rare with a Pluto transit that we give up all the things Pluto is asking us to let go of willingly. Usually, there's a few things that get ripped from our hands.

It's always stood out for me that for a god that brings such extreme change and death (aka loss, not literal death), Pluto would co-rule a fixed sign: Scorpio.

the complexity of Jupiter

the complexity of Jupiter

I want to encourage you to start taking a closer look at Jupiter in the chart - I find it to be just as important as Saturn.

I feel like many astrologers just dismiss it as the planet that shows “luck” or “wealth” but it’s so much more. And a lot of times, it shows up in a way that presents challenge, and encourages self-awareness and growth.

I wanted to make an (in-exhaustive) list of how I see Jupiter functioning in charts as more shadow/challenge rather than all blessings and luck.

To not have this side of Jupiter in our awareness is short-sided and not the complete story of this complex planet.

Mars in Cancer, mars in fall

But I love placements that ask planets to be scrappy, inventive, and perhaps, ask the planets to work a little harder. I think this really builds empathy and not to sound trite, but builds character. I genuinely see planets in Detriment and in Fall as a gift.

The mainstream story around Mars in Cancer is that it’s not a strong Mars. It doesn’t take decisive, direct action, it doesn’t self assert boldly and directly, and it is too emotional. And I have heard Mars in Cancer folks say that they do have a hard time with expressing anger.

10th house as our place in society

So yes, 10H is kind of about work, but not quite. It’s about our more public endeavors, our reputation, and, recently, Daniel L Quick said it is: how you are placed in society. For me, this phrasing clicked, so I wanted to share and expand on it.

the hypocrisy of big feelings

If, as gentle parents, we let our kids have big feelings, and we pride ourselves on giving them all the space and validation, why do we self-shame and spiral when we as adults lose our temper?
